Dignity Washington at Gay Pride Parade

Washington, DC’s annual “Capital Pride” festivities take place this weekend, and we wanted to invite and to encourage everyone in our Dignity/Washington community to please join us for the following events and activities:

· Pride Parade on Saturday, June 7th – The parade kicks off at 4:30 PM, and our Dignity/Washington marching contingent will be #3 in the “Pink Zone.” Prior to the kick-off, we will be forming up on N Street, NW, between 23rd and 25th Streets. All who wish to be part of our D/W parade marching contingent should arrive by 3:30 PM, enter the “Pink Zone” area from 25th Street, and proceed East on N Street to find our Dignity/Washington group. All are welcome to join us for the parade.

· Pride Festival on Sunday, June 8th – The festival once again takes place on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, between 3rd and 7th Streets, from 12:00 Noon to 7:00 PM. Dignity/Washington’s festival booth is R (Red) 104, and will be located on the right side of the grounds, just inside the main entrance at 7th Street.

· Dignity/Washington Mass on Sunday, June 8th – We will be closing out Pride Weekend with our 6:00 PM Mass at St. Margaret’s Church, which will feature as our special guest homilist Rabbi Laurie Green, of Washington’s Temple Bet Mishpachah.

This coming Sunday (June 8) is also the Feast of Pentecost, which at Dignity/Washington is observed each year as the symbolic anniversary of our Chapter’s first Mass outside of Catholic facilities in 1987. Don’t forget our long-standing Dignity/Washington custom of wearing Red to Mass on Pentacost!
